The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 57.58 points to 26846.53 and the 50-share NSE Nifty fell 11.90 points to 8131.70 after hitting day's low of 8088.60. The broader markets outperformed benchmarks; the BSE Midcap closed flat with positive bias and Smallcap gained 0.4 percent.
